I just finished cleaning up a "fix up" for a client of many years ago.
some 20 years ago their stage was set up with two 6 channel dimmer packs. These packs had "Power Lock" (by AMP) type patch bay output panels. and each of the 52 house circuits had a Power Lock pigtail. all this was nicley racked and was a clean looking install when i left the area some 15+ years ago.
So i was suprised when the venues artistic director tracked me down to "fix the lighting" 15 years later. Time had taken a toll on the two dimmer packs and she had gotten a fellow to replace them a year previous. The fellow ordered up two new 8 channel dimmer packs and "installed" them..
But...
when he ordered the new packs he got a knock-out style output panel
not a problem for this fellow. he just took the pigtails he needed, clipped the silly connector off and hard wired them to the dimmers.
need to order up new output panels.
it was likely best this fellow was out of town when i fixing his work.
