Rose Brand Aglo Alternative

Hey guys, we are backlighting some frosted skylights and the lighting designer doesn't want to see lamp sources. He wants to use Rose Brand Aglo, but it's not going to fit in the budget. Does anybody know of a cost effective alternative?

We have had good results with old fashioned drafting paper, like Clearprint--translucent enough to transmit light, but opaque enough to mask the source. If you are careful, you can get it to lay very smooth. As it is paper, it isn't workable everywhere--close to instruments, on pieces where it might get hit, etc. I believe the largest roll width is ARCH E at about 42"

Brian will bristle, but 4mm "natural" Coroplast (corrugated plastic) makes a nice, cheap translucency, if you can live with the subtle corrugation lines.

No bristling...great idea.

One more bit of information; the openings are triangles that are 8' on the base and about 12' high. Does drafting paper come on 8' rolls? Or is there an easy way to seam it?

We have used Coroplast in the past for backlighting, but the largest piece available is 4' x 8'. Again, the worry is seaming. Has anyone used clear packing tape for that in the past?
