S4 Ellipsoidal Terms

While reading another post on here I saw people talking about some things that I havent ever heard of so I was hoping some of y'all could tell me what they are... Bench focus, level of peak/flat, peak cosine distribution ... Never heard of them, please and thank you!!

There should be a thread on bench focusing, etc has it in a manual somewhere too. It's the maintenance done to keep an even flat field for the beam it produces. Flat is good, even distribution and spread of light. Obviously looking like a donut is bad.

Slightly more basically, it deals with with the positioning of the lamp filament in relation to the reflector.

I suppose it becomes a thing of the past with LED sources and no ellipsoidal reflector.
