Silicone mold casting

Hello. I want to get into casting. Especially items like tools (crowbars, hammers) for props and go from there. I have watched the various videos and read some things from various builders and companies like Smooth On. I want to get into it, but it's so overwhelming that I don't know what to buy first to get my feet wet! Does anyone have some experience with it and can offer some advice some advice?

Might want to try using the good 'ol feet and walk into a supply store. There should be someone there who could help you get what you need for a starter project. Our local Smooth-on dealer (Reynolds Advanced Materials, I think) is pretty helpful.

Yes, that is, of course, a good idea. The closest Reynolds is a couple of states away, though and the hobby stores that I have been to that carry Smooth On don't seem to employ anyone that has any useful knowledge of the product or processes. Hence the reason to ask the forum.
