Snake Heat Shrink (Where outer jacket ends)

Is there a specific type of heat shrink that is used on the fantail end of a snake where the outer jacket ends and the inner cables become exposed? Maybe heat shrink tubing with a thicker wall? I've been using the same type of heat shrink that I use for the clear covering over labels, just in black. I've been doubling up because it feels so thin, but even still it doesn't look/feel right. Any ideas? Thanks.

What is the cable diameter? Maybe try a wider heat-shrink tube, unless the snake is only 1/2".
