Design software?

Hi! Im new to control room. does anyone know of free, lightng design software downloads? i need a software to use, but all of the ones i find cost money, and big money at that. thanks for the help!

ps: im running windows, just incase the software is specific to a system

First of all, you should try a search on the site because this topic (with nearly the same title) come up almost every other month.

Secondly, as a student, you are probably eligible for the FREE license for Vectorworks (assuming you are looking for CAD/drafting software).

If you're looking for control software to work with on your laptop, most manufactures offer a free download for their pc compatible lighting control software. Our Lights are run by a Lehigh Millenium XP board, and I downloaded the software to my laptop to become more familiar with it.
