Control/Dimming Strand 430... Do you want it?

Hey Guys,

I'm currently a first year student on a technical theater course at Stratford Upon-Avon College, UK and we currently are very low on equipment for us to further our knowledge as we only have old and must out dated equipment.

We currently have a Strand 430 that is not booting. When we turn it on it will get to a point that says 'no OS installed', I have been looking around various websites and have found a number of different people looking for these desks as they are still very good desks and I totally agree that they are!

So to cut a long story short, my lecturer has asked me to look around and see if there is anyone who is willing to take this desk of our hands, for a swap or small payment. It is in 'OK' condition, just needs a bit of a clean, we are willing to give you the 'Riggers Remote' along with it if anyone is interested?

I will post some pictures shortly.

No, because we no longer have the OS disks and can not find it anywhere on the internet. Plus we also no longer want the desk as we have no need for it and no where to store it.

If you were to load the OS and get it to fully operating condition, it might be easier to unload...

I have to agree, hate to see a lovely old console that appears to be in really good shape not getting the love and attention she deserves. I can think of a few places that may give her a good home, but again for the shipping charges.
If I had the funds to ship it and such, I'd get it, I know a community theatre that'd love that beauty.

from a technical standpoint, I suspect that you (worst case) may need a new hard drive. If that is done, then load DOS 6.22 (I've found that before on the net so that shouldn't be difficult) and then load the 500 series operating software. It's available at Strand Lighting - A Philips Group Brand.

remember that the 400 series was a precursor to the 500 series so it runs the same software.
