Ladder Truss Battens are two [1.5" i.d. Schedule 40 steel] pipes connected with 1/4"x2" plates about 10" long welded between the pipes on 4' to 5' centers.
From Secoa - Glossary:
Used in place of a single pipe batten, a truss batten is made up of 2 or more pipes connected with stringers creating a more rigid support structure.
Often used on counterweight fly systems on very wide (over 60') stages to provide more strength and rigidity than a single pipe.
