This is a follow spot usually located on an overhead truss, as opposed to a front of house position. The operator climbs a vertical wire rope ladder to get to his/her position. The operator sits in a racing car-type seat to operate the followspot, and is seat belted in for safety, in addition to his fall-arrest harness. The follow spots used in this application are typically smaller than those used for front of house applications. Truss spots are typically used in larger arena type concerts, and TV music award shows.
