Hi All,

I am involved in a Schools production of We Will Rock You, and I am after some help/advice with Microphones and sound.

The Production will be run on a School Stage which is approx 35ft wide and 20ft deep. The main speakers are hung in a central position above the stage and curtain track, which I know is now ideal. I also have the option of putting some speakers further forward to the far left and right of the auditorium.

We have approx 7 wireless lav mics, which is fine for the main roles. The problem I am having is the sound reinforcement for the Chorus. We have brought the live backing tracks which will be played through qlab.

I also have 2 audio technica pro44 boundary mics which I could use, and I could also look into hiring mics if necessary.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

What about 2 to 3 Hanging mics That you drop from the Grid on Stage. That should help with getting the Coverage for the Chorus

It's a rock musical, I can't see 2 or 3 hanging mics being a practical way to mic a chorus in this instance. You'll be fighting the volume of the main PA and in doing so opening yourself up to a host of other problems.
