    Booth Pictures :)

Shouldn't be too hard to teach others, assuming they are not complete morons, both boards are pretty straightforward.

Smoke machine needs fire dept. approval ?

The liquid probably does not contain any oil based component, as breathing such liquid vapors can cause lipid pneumonia. Both glycerin and propylene glycol are alcohols.

    Control/Dimming Stupid Ion Questions 1

I do theatrical and dance lighting as well - and have absolutely no use for tracking mode. To me, the only time tracking is useful is when only a few channels change values with each new cue.I have numbered the questions to which I am responding. This is all from the viewpoint of using Cue...

Conventional Fixtures Disposing of perfectly good lamps

My local community theatre would be interested in some/all of the BTL/FEL/BTR/HX600 lamps - depending on how many you have. The theatre is on a very tight budget, so don't know how much the BOD is willing to pay, but I know they would at least cover shipping costs. The local community college...

    Bijou Consoles?

No, you can fade between steps. The manual could be better, but moving light control is explained. You can even snap some parameters and have others fade at different rates. I happen to have a Control Freak, which makes using moving lights somewhat easier than doing everything through sliders...

Can we convert all of our Fixtures to LED's in the next 5-10 years?

Exactly. It is doubtful that there will ever be anything close to a full spectrum LED head, just as there as never been a fluorescent lamp that closely matches daylight. And making a decent ellipsoidal with LEDs is going to be very problematic unless they can produce some very high wattage LEDs...

using strips from floor for sunrise?

I have often done this by just propping up the front of the lights (if necessary) as they sit on the deck. Bill

    TERRIBLE PATCH-NEED HELP REVISING!

You have the same situation we had when we replaced our AMX board with DMX. Our dimmers are the old version of CD-80 with no capability of DMX control. I purchased an ETC AMX/DMX Response Converter, which can convert protocols in either direction. I used that to supply the AMX to our CD-80s...

    Control/Dimming "Facts" about DMX

I doubt if such incorrect statements hurt their business significantly. I don't think most theatrical/concert people would even be buying their low end stuff. DJ cable runs are pretty short with only a small number of lights, so there shouldn't be any real problems with signal attenuation or...

Final decisions and pricing on a new board.

If anyone has questions about the BIJOU, feel free to contact me. I am very familiar with the board.I don't recall if the example would work, for setting light levels. But you can use a string like "1 through 12 except 9 and 18 through 21 at ...", then use the encoder wheel to do a...

    Design Quick URGENT question

Maybe. I do the lighting in a local deli that uses track lighting cans - PAR38 lamps, if I recall correctly. There has not been any problem with melting gels, even dense blue, but in three years they have cooked one lamp socket. I can guarantee that a cyc light pumps a lot more heat through a...

What do you hate about your light board?

The two theatres where I do most of my lighting designs use the EDI Bijou. There are two primary things that I dislike:1) You cannot record/link effects to cues, only submasters. 2) Unlike the predecessor board, when editing a cue, you cannot use the channel faders to grab a level and bring...

    Wrong use of Far Cyc's?

I would disagree with whoever taught you that. There ARE browns, R99 for example. It is not very saturated, more like a sepia. Also, the Rosco greys do change the color a bit. Look at your swatch book and compare R97 and R398. R398 is fairly close to a neutral density filter. Bill

    Electricity for Dummies?

It depends on exactly what you want. If you want basic electrical theory, then get a copy of the Radio Amateur's Handbook, preferably one before about 1990.Finding information on harmonic currents, three phase power, control systems etc is more difficult.
