    Thatched Roof

I made a thatched roof out of natural-colored bamboo fencing from homedepot for only 24 bucks. I highly recommend that you cut it and that layer it.BE SURE that you put a flame retardant on ALL natural fibers that you put on stage. This is especially true with HIGHLY flamable materials...

    Upstage Window in Mousetrap

That would work.I would like the snow to be able to "drift" on to the window mullions, which again needs an actual pane in the frame.

    Upstage Window in Mousetrap

I'm thinking that the fan could come on prior to the widow opening and spin up, and opening the frame would allow for realistic timing. Flapping a board would be alright, but there is a blizzard and the window is left open for an extended length of time.

    Upstage Window in Mousetrap

So, I'm mounting Agatha Christie's Mousetrap this season, and I'm looking for an inexpensive and safe way to make the window upstage center. I want there to be something in the frame so I can add a fan upstage to blow the curtains around. But I am stumpped on what material to use.I thought...

    Stock Plot

Thanks Ron. That's what I was imagining.I will have to run jumpers from installed circuits which are hard wired to the Rack. (never thought I'd want a patch panel) what's more amusing, is that we have them doubled but running Right to left, not up to down... So... I'll be buying/building a...

    Stock Plot

I have a black box that is consistently used as a thrust instead of arena. I have 9, 10' areas, and only 24 dimmers. Dimmer Doubling is out of the question, as I only have a handfull of S4 lights (mostly Altman and Colortrash)I know a 3-light plot might be best (left, right, front), but that...

    ETC Sensor Classic

I just relocated to a new school which has Sensor Classic racks, which are having issues. One of them is that the D20 modules are starting to become burn-ons, and in need of repair. Is it possible for two bad dimmers to be rebuilt as one? if so, is that somehting that I could do, or are they...

    Flowers for Algernon Ideas

OK. As the post says; We're doing Flowers for Algernon. Two hangups - The Maze and the mouse.Has anyone tried a live mouse? I'd like to buy/build a mouse, but in a black box, need the mouse to look realistic-ish. Additionally, I need to have a re-configurable maze, so I can use multiple...

    Phosphorescent Scenery

OK... I'm directing the Hobbit next year, and due to our 1 backdrop, I have to get creative. I usually go for using the cyc and having a single location, or using the Black Out to change to a second location... However, I would like to paint a generic "valley" scene on it then paint over it in...

    Microphones Microphone connector

My stage currently uses 10 Audio-Technica Body transmitters, but the cables on the lavs are cutting out. My school recently bought a few Countryman headsets, but not reading the manual, the kids have bend them to hell. I'm trying to replace them with something the kids can't break like Shure...

    Manager Falls Into Orchestra Pit

My college roommate lost a friend in High School because of an open pit. The state of Texas now has laws making orchestra pit nets mandatory. I think that as cautious as we all are, sometimes we get distracted because we are all fallible.

Microphones What is it, and what is its use?

It has an XLR cabinet receptacle on the back. The sound is VERY treble heavy and tinny.

Microphones What is it, and what is its use?

Sadly, no. The back looks like a cardboard box wrapped with gaff tape (arguably) wrapped around it The microphone membrane is some form of plastic.

Microphones What is it, and what is its use?

I'm at a new school and trying to figure out what the thought process of my predecessors was. I found these two microphones in a cabinet protected by a terrycloth towel. The Janitor (who has been charged with setting and striking all sound equip.) said that they were expensive and used as...
