    Amp Advice

Hello all!I am looking for recommendations on an amp I need to purchase to replace an EV 7100 (100 watts 8 ohms, 2 channel) in a 400 seat auditorium. I have just taken a position with the local high school and their amp is fried due to broken fans, overheating, etc. I am looking at a Crown...

food and drinks in the control booth

At my auditorium we have an all high-school crew. In the booth we allow food and drink but only at the back counter, not at the counter where the audio and light board live. Too much of a risk to have liquids near the controls.

You Can't Take It With You - "Beautiful pretty girly red fire of brilliance"

I know this is an old post, however, we recently closed on this production at my high school and I used this technique for the red glow. It worked great! I added a gam roller with the flame roll to get the movement of flames reflected and it looked fantastic. Thanks for the tip Kurt!

Training a high school lighting designer

I agree - As a TD at a high school that also offers a professional series, I find this mini-rant to be spot on (pun intended :). Students can do amazingly creative things and latch on to new technology faster than a bee on honey. My students serve as crew for all of our events which take up 200+...

Conventional Fixtures Cyc Light Heat Issue

Thanks for the thoughts -in some units, though not all, the reflector was bowed out towards the lamp. Would this proximity be enough to cause the amount of heat transfer needed to turn the wire casings into dust and create the corrosion that is shown in the upper left corner of this pic? I just...

Conventional Fixtures Cyc Light Heat Issue

Curious to see if anyone has run into this issue before and what the solution is. There hasn't been any change in lamps used/wattage/etc. The triple cyc fixtures are about eight years old probably 2/3 of the units are having this issue. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Design Lighting for News Media in a Theatre

We have done this type of event, political debates mostly. Backlighting is also very good to use if possible, helps the speakers have dimension on camera.

What's in your budget for next year?

Budget? What's that? :) As part of a school district, our budget just got cut by $20,000 for next year. Small change compared to the over $200,000 each of the school buildings have to cut. We are just thankful that so much of our professional and rental events are self sustaining.

    CD Player parts

Hello all! We have a Denon c635 CD player with a broken off select knob. We currently use a bobby pin to change tracks. This works fine, however, when we have touring groups in it seems a bit, well, ghetto. I have searched online but can't find a place to purchase a new knob. Any suggestions...
