Conventional Fixtures ETC goes BakPak !

From what I've seen, the whip from the burner assembly is hard wired into the dimmer assembly. To add a dimmer, I'd imagine that the standard burner cap must be removed and replaced with that integrated into the dimmer.

MagicQ vs Insight 2x with Seladors and other LEDs

I have a choice to make regarding a show I'm designing next month. I'm designing a community theater show, and it will be fairly technically complex. I have about 120 conventionals, 3x 11" Seladors and 2x 21" Seladors, as well as up to 6 RGB LED PARs (the plot is not finalized, so I'm unsure of...

    1 MacBook, 2 projectors

The last time I used one of these, which was a couple of years ago now, the refresh rate wasn't fast enough to drive video playback over such a connection. USB just doesn't have the bandwidth. It might be worth a shot now, though, as I'm sure the technology has improved.

    Control/Dimming EOS Harddrive

I'd say it's not worth it. The processor in the Eos, Ion and the like are, by modern PC standards, slow, but the Eos software has very minimal system requirements. Moreover, the Eos software runs almost entirely in RAM except to save show files and boot up.EDIT: I missed that Kirk already...

    Control/Dimming ETC Express Remote Control?

It's a project that myself and another lighting designer I work with a lot have considered doing this summer. We need a logic analyzer to start...

Control/Dimming Turning off an Element/Ion without a monitor?

Try [Displays] [down arrow] [down arrow] [select] [select].

ETC EOS RPU Turning back on after power outage.

Seeing that all of the Eos consoles (most modern consoles really) are just standard PCs with a custom faceplate on them, I'd imagine that this capability is dependent upon the PC hardware running the RPU. From what I remember, most motherboards are configured in hardware to either power back on...

Design Controlling House Curtain Via DMX

Having just worked with an Arduino-based controller for some LEDs embedded in a set piece that we needed DMX control over, I would have to disagree with this idea. I would never trust a DIY device with homebrew code to control something with the potential to do as much damage as a flying...

    Church Lighting Advice

Some thoughts. A community theatre company I've been working with for a while just got some RGB LED fixtures. Specifically TyLEDs, which CB usual BillESC sells. They're decent. They're bright compared to TH units with saturated gel. They produce less than exceptional whites and pastels...

    Dimmer Doublers and an MPE

I did some searching and I couldn't find anything that answered my question. I've been working with a small community theatre company for a while now, helping with lighting and electrics. This coming year we're looking to make some upgrades to our dimming system. The space is a very small...

    Spinning Flat for The Producers

While I don't do much scenic work at all, I'm going to take a stab at it. I have no idea how safe this might be, or what the 'right' way of doing this is.Start with a flat. This is the backing and main structure. This is also what will be attached to the line set. It will house the electrics...

    Connecting two Lightboards

If I remember correctly, focus point 0 is the DMX in, so setting [focus point] [1] [at] [full] should allow the data from the dongle to pass through the Insight to the movers. However, I've never done it, so there might be more to it.

Control/Dimming 1:1 isnt, in this case. ETC Express, help!

Do you by chance have more dimmers than channels? If I remember correctly, a 1:1 patch in Expression will "wrap around", so if you have a 24/48 Express with 96 channels, channel 1 would have dimmers 1, 97, 193, and so on. Channel 2 would have dimmers 2, 98, 194.

Conventional Fixtures Source4 Par lamp vs gel life

To my understanding, power draw is also a direct measure of heat production. Regardless of the lamp's light output, at a given wattage it will dissipate the same amount of heat. A 575w lamp will output 575 Joules of heat per second, independent of the amount of light outputted. Gel life is more...

    Express and Timecode events

So, how different is it from running timecode events off of the internal clock in an Insight 2? Will I not have the same 1/30 of a second resolution?
