Anyone know how to find the IP address of a FLX s24?

I think it does. I think my problem is that the desk is trying to use an IP that is in use/doesn’t exist. I think I’ll need to set it to DHCP, which should then give the desk an IP from the router that is not in use. If it still doesn’t show me the IP, I can start the ZerOS Remote app, which should then make the desk appear in the list, along with the IP.

I’ll test it tonight and let you know.

Thanks for your help!

Hi @TheEpicTen
Need to connect a FLXs to an ArtNet interface, which requires me to enter the IP address of the console. How do I find this in the settings of the console?
On the FLX S24, you can customise the IP address of the Art-Net connection. To do this, go to Setup > Universes > Art-Net. In here, you can then select a default 2.x.y.z IP (Primary), a default 10.x.y.z IP (Secondary), a custom static IP, or configure the console to use the assigned DHCP IP.

Please see the link below for more information...

To find the console's DHCP IP, tap Z/Shift > System Information > Network Overview.

As a side note, there shouldn't be a need for Art-Net "receivers" to be manually told the IP address of the Art-Net controller. Once given the correct IP & subnet settings, the Art-Net receiver and controller should automatically detect one another.

(Tried posting on Zero88 Forums, but it won’t let me sign up.)
I have manually approved your forum account. Your forum profile can be found here...

You can get the manual from here if you don't have one.
^ Please note, that copy of the manual is significantly out of date. The latest manual can always be found here...

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks @almorton for pinging me!

Thanks for the correction, Edward.

On a related issue, is it correct that (at least some) 2.x.x.x addresses have been assigned to RIPE and are no longer considered private (like 10.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x, for example) or even reserved? Thus the use of 2.x.x.x for artnet is something of an anachronism on modern networks?

2.x.y.z IP addresses theoretically should not be used on networks that have Internet access. The following IP addresses are designed for use on private networks that have Internet access:
  • Class A: 10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255
  • Class B: 172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255
  • Class C: 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255

Thus the use of 2.x.x.x for artnet is something of an anachronism on modern networks?
The Art-Net specification specifically states that Art-Net devices should default to a 2.x.y.z IP address. This is of course on the understanding that the majority of lighting networks will be completely isolated from the Internet.

Thanks! How did you find my account out of interest? Was it just the username?

Yes - same username as your CB one. I figured that account was either you, or a massive coincidence 😆

Absolutely, lighting networks should be air gapped from the internet, but it's not always a given, for various reasons.

Right. Tested, Not working. The ArtNet reciever is in the Minecraft Theatrical mod, bit weird I know, but I still need to find the desk IP, and it is still isn't working. I've set FLX s to DHCP, and the reciever still won't pick anything up. Help is needed. Thanks!

Would have to look again on Friday, but I think it was that I set ArtNet on the FLX to DHCP, looked at the ZerOS remote app on iPad, desk showed up in list, with ip something like 192.168.9.112, entered that in MC node, nothing. Tried it without the 19 at the beggining, still nothing. In ArtNet Settings, I have 2 options, Primary(2.168.9.112) and Secondary(10.168.9.112), also DHCP. Tried Primary in node, nothing. Might try secondary on Friday.

Uh... designing LX for Minecraft? Whut? Doing LX work on what should be a closed system that is connected to another network?

Help me understand.

It’s worth noting that, unless both Art-Net and Remote are set to “DHCP”, it’s possible that they have different IP addresses.

We're trying to recreate a production that we've worked on in an actual theatre, but MC is an easy way to get lots of people in the "same" place. Found a mod that can add lights. We would have it on closed system, but then MC can't connect to server. How much of a problem is connecting FLXs to internet?
