Abbreviations & Shortforms, common terms

I thought it a handy reference to have a list of common abbreviations from the industry. Seen quite a few times when people seemed a little confused by some.

A
AD - Artistic Director or Assistant to the Director
ASM - Assistant Stage Manager
ATD - Assistant to the Technical Director (or Apprentice Tech. Director)

B
B/O - BlackOut

F
F/B - Fade to Black
F/B - Foldback
FoH - Front-of-House

L
LD - Lighting Designer
Lx - Lighting Effect

P
PA - Production Assistant
PM - Production Manager
Pros. or Prosc. - Proscenium
PS - Prompt Side

Q
Q - Cue
Q2Q - Cue to Cue

S
SD - Sound Designer
SM - Stage Manager
Sx - Sound Effect

T
TD - Technical Director


X
x - Cross (change to, move to)



Stage Directions:
DS - Down Stage (Towards Audience)
DSL - Down Stage Left (Towards Audience, Actor's Left)
DSR - Down Stage Right (Towards Audience, Actor's Right)
SC - Stage Center (Center of the Stage)
SR - Stage Right (Actor's Right, While facing Audience)
SL - Stage Left (Actor's Left, While Facing Audience)
US - Up Stage (Towards rear of stage)
USL - Up Stage Left
USR - Up Stage Right
MSR - Mid Stage Right
DSRR / DSFR - Downstage Right Right or Downstage Far Right (I prefer DSRR, mostly because it can become DSRRR on Really Big Stages)
