Camcorder with remote on/off or other solution

I have been assigned the task of mounting a camera above the baptismal at church. I am looking for a camera/camcorder that can be remotely turned on and off, for the camera will be mounted higher than I can reach. It will be connected to a projector either through HDMI or RGB. I know little about camcorders, but need to be led to products. We will be using the camcorder to give a live feed of baptisms. Other possible solutions would be great as well. Price: under $500 but am flexible.

Pretty much any camera can be turned on and off remotely - just unplug it. Alternatively, leave it on all the time?

A camcorder solution may or may not work in that fashion. After all, most camcorders are designed to be held while operating so they need some sort of interaction when powering on. You are probably looking for a CCTV solution. As you mention HDMI, do you need the camera to be wide aspect? How far is it from where the camera will be mounted to your projector?
