"more inviting and happy" usually means warmer (color temperature) and brighter, though not operating room or interrogation room illumination levels. Tell/show us what you're starting with, so meaningful suggestion can be made.

In addition to what Derek said, there's a lot to be found by searching the forums. Several members moonlight at their places of worship as AV techs and we've got some great minds as members in the world of stage design and renovation too. Lots of threads about church setups.

Also, try speaking with a dealer. Many times they have in house personnel that can help with this as well as provide the equipment.
