Color Chase from Center Out on ETC Element/Ion

I am trying to get a color chase from the center out using 8 SL660s lighting a cyc Will only need 3 colors . Someone has suggested 1. Pixel Mapping 2. Absolute Effect using color palettes. What is the best way, or is there a better way? Currently, I have an absolute effect using color palettes for the same fixtures for a different scene, but that is a left to right chase, and I want a center-out.

Assuming they're already in a group then record a new group that fans out from the center and reapply the absolute affect to that group.

Group X Offset Mirror Out Record Group Y Enter
Group Y Effect Z Enter
