A real cyc is best, a local company may have a large cyc which is damaged, but with enough left for your [presumably] smaller stage.
A back wall can be painted white or plasterboarded and painted.This lasts forever.
Cheap canvas can be fire-proofed then joined together with iron-on tape, bought from wholesaler not local shop, this method causes less distortion than a sewed seam and can be done by relatively unskilled people.
Because cyc material comes in 9metre wide rolls there is a lot of wastage so you might get lucky to buy an offcut, especially if you can be flexible on exact size.

Just because Terms get confused so very often, I want to clairfy. Are you looking for a movable "sky drop" or an Immovable Cyc, or a movable cyc?
Denpending on the dimensions of your stage you may very well be able to find something at Rose Brand. They often < well not real often> have mistakes, where something was cut and finished to the wrong dimensions you can pick those up at a great discount. Then paint them to suit your needs or don't paint it you're just looking at needing a cyc.
