Not sure if I am understanding you correctly....
1. If your
base system is an
ION that has
sACN achitecture and you want to just add another non
ETC console to
network. The
ION cannot receive
DMX like a
fixture does. you can pass
OSC or
MIDI signals from another
console to the
ION and then subsequently control the lights that way.
2. If you are just adding another
ETC board, simply connecting it into a
switch and modifying the
network settings in the shell will allow control over the lights via
network.
3. If you just want to allow someone else to bring their
console into your
venue than you would need to either:
a. output
sACN or
Art-net from both consoles. (be aware that the first
console will create a 'home' value for the next board... this is a nightmare so you want to only have patched or a user group for the lights you want to control with each board, no
fixture sharing with multiple branded board).
b. use a separate
node as an input into the
system. I leave a 2 port
node at
FOH dedicated for tie-ins. than the touring company just goes
dmx from their
node to our
node, and none of our architecture changes.
c. get a multiple port
node. go
dmx out from
ION to ports 1 and 2, and subsequent ports from next
console. the
node would act like a
dmx switch joining signals.
