Sounds like the wrong gear was used in both headcrab and mstutzman's switching systems. With the proper equipment it is impossible to have this situation.
I am part of capital expenditures in my building and we looked at LEDs for our houselights in our arena. I believe it would require us to double the amount of fixtures. It is a 45ft ceiling so it has a fair distance to the floor. There was an electrician in the other day saying the opposite. He said we could half our ceiling fixtures that and get the same number of lumens. I wasn't convinced.
Thanks for all the discussion. Our ceiling is 24' so the distance shouldn't be as much of an issue. We presently have 10, 3 light hanging fixtures with 23watt CFL's in them so I am thinking that 20 potlights (recessed cans) with PAR 30 LED's should give me the same lumens or slightly more. The only issue might be even coverage at the floor.
