Larger Set, Small Venue

So for my directing class I have to direct a short play. The play I have in mind is the Adventures of the Pink Wasp and Yellow Jacket and I have seen this production put on in a large space but my problem is that the venue that I am in now is much smaller. Any suggestions on what to do?

Think Outside the Box-set. I'm not familiar with the show but let me tell you my company just finished with "Ah Wilderness". We were able to condense the 10 or so locations into a single 'Unit' set. Think about what areas are required, how do you deliniate those areas, what areas can double and what areas need to be unique. Do you deliniate the areas by changes in Height? Platformed areas and deck height areas. Do you simply deliniate by pools of light? Or perhaps diferent paint treatments. We've done some shows where actors walked out with a piece of silk to signify grass or water. Expand that imagination...
