Hey guys, I am trying to replace my light board. It is a piece of junk in every since of the word. I was trying to figure out if there is a way to run lights through a dimmer tower through my mac. Please let me know if you have any ideas.
What board do you have now? How many lights are you going to be controlling? Any moving lights? These are things to keep in mind when picking a console. As far as controlling lighting from your Mac, you should look into the free program miniStageConsole. You'll need a USB DMX dongle to act as a middleman. If you're looking for something more capable than miniStageConsole, your best bet is probably a hardware console, unless you can install Windows on your computer, as there are quite a few Windows-based lighting control programs.
