1.) n. a loop of wire, usually of 20 gauge (.032") stainless steel wire, wrapped through the pin and around the clevis of a shackle to prevent the pin from vibrating loose. Properly installed, a shackle screw pin should be finger tight only and not require a tool of any type to insert or remove the screw pin, thus the need for the mousing wire and the reason there is a hole in the head of the screw pin.
