New to LED

We are currently in the process of transitioning our lights from traditionals to LED's. It is our first time using more than one LED on one dimmer pack (Entertainment Technology: Intelligent power system). We would like to have multiple lights on a dimmer pack without them being daisy chained together. We are also curious about how to patch the lights into our ETC Ion board. We would also like to know if there is a way to put multiple DMX into the dimmer pack which only contains on DMX in port. We also want to update our board software and fixture library and are unsure how to do so.

What type of LED fixtures are you planning to use? Usually, you don't run LED fixtures through a dimmer. They have built-in dimming abilities, and instead of changing the power coming into the fixture to dim it, you just give it constant power and control the dimming of the fixture through DMX.

DMX is a daisy-chain setup. Your dimmers are most likely daisy chained together from the board via the DMX IN and DMX OUT/THRU ports on the packs. Your LED fixtures should have a DMX IN and DMX OUT/THRU on them, and you daisy chain them the same way. There are ways to split the DMX signal to go multiple locations.

As for updating software, you should be able to look up on the ETC website on how to update the board software. The ION has USB ports, so you download the software updates onto a flash drive and move it to your ION.
