Non-Intensity Parameter. Automated lighting term. Any attribute not associated with the brightness of the fixture. Many consoles deal with the intensity channel differently from the NIPs (for instance, Intensity is usually HTP, while the NIPs are LTP.) Running a slider / handle / fader / submaster up or down may alter instensity, but one probably does not want color / position / gobo to change when a slider is moved.
