Has anyone used Rose Brand's Boost fabric for rear projection? Our TD is suggesting it as an alternative to RP material. I am worried about hotspots and gain.

Rosebrand is usually quite accurate in their descriptions. If they say it makes a great projection surface, I would trust that. I see this as probably a front surface screen as it does not look translucent. I think the issue will be to get ting an even stretch with no sag. projection screens are extremely tight to put on the frame.
I have used similar material for RP, but by Dazian instead. You get more of a hot spot the more you stretch it. I like using something like this when I don't have access to a good RP material or I need something that fits in somewhere where I wouldn't want to use good material. You should be able to request a sample (there may be some cost associated depending on the size). That way you can see for yourself before investing in a large piece.
