Using a dmx console as an RFU on an etc express 48/96

The only thing you can plug into the Express' 6pin XLR RFU socket is an ETC LCD RFU. There is no 6pin-to-5pin adapter, as the socket will not listen to DMX.

Three ways to accomplish what you desire (in order of expense):
  1. Unplug the DMX cable that goes from the Express' DMX1 out port to the wall (to dimmers), and plug in a long DMX cable from your old console. Obviously this will take control away from the Express.
  2. Almost the same as above, but use an "A/B Switch" (such as the Fleenor SW1)which eliminates the replugging.
  3. Use a DMX merger (such as the Fleenor 221E) and both consoles will talk to the dimmers simultaneously, on an HTP (biggest guy wins) basis. What happens on one console will not affect what happens on the other.
