Who's worked on a VL3k?

Yeah, not me. Well, I did once for one show a loooonnnnggg time ago. But I don't remember much.

What's the silver piece on the back side of the focus/zoom region?

Since we have a bunch of former Vari-Lite experts in our company, I posted this question to them to see if they had any insight they might be able to provide.

“What’s the silver piece on the back side of the focus/zoom region?”

I looked at the video clip attached to the post. I’m not sure what he means by the silver piece, unless he is referring to the spare reflector and it’s mount. The newer VL3015 and VL3515 spots come with two reflectors. One reflector produces a higher output, peaked beam and the other reflector gives a lower output, flatter beam. Whichever reflector isn’t installed for use, rides inside the luminaire.

We hope that helps answer the question.

Thank you! I was not aware of the second reflector. Funny part was looking at the video I was thinking gee that looks like someone stuck a reflector there. That would also explain why I didn't remember that in the ones I worked on a few years ago-- they were older 3ks.
