Automated Fixtures Favourite Automated Fixtures?

How about a survey:

What's your favourite LED fixture, and why? What would you suggest for a balance of theatre and music shows, in a generic space?

Suggested categories: Moving head wash, Moving head spot, and batten-style fixtures.
(examples: Martin Mac Aura, SGM G-Profile, Chroma-Q ColorForce 72)

I've been impressed with my Martin MAC Aura's since the get go. I purchased 9 in early '14, put them to immediate use in concert and musical events as primary back light (basically replacing a 56 conventional unit system). The size and weight makes them very useful, the zoom range is incredible as is the intensity in the saturated colors. It's an RGBW fixture so it's only weak point is in the amber spectrum, yet the white holds its own against a 750w S4 Par.

Is it a unit I'd want for a theatrical front wash in tinted face colors ?, probably not, but it's not designed for that either.

Very versatile fixture and I wish ETC would figure out how to zoom and move a Selador Desire D60 like an Aura as that would do theater well.

I'm actually a huge fan of the Martin MAC101 CLD. With the trim heights I work with in the space I use it, typically 21'6", it creates the perfectly sized backlight special for 1-2 people. It's also insanely bright which is great since all my conventional fixtures are lamped at 750. While I can't zoom it like I would an I-Cue with an Iris, that intensity is great. If you need to clean up the color a little some CTO and BlackTak will do the job.

My favorite batten fixture is definitely the Colorforce line. They have great punch for lighting CYCs and drops. I've not experimented with them as top or backlight, though (I'm also the crazy person who loves creating top and backlight systems out of mini-strips). The dimming curve is fairly good. A bit more punch in the reds and ambers than the Selador strips. For lighting cycs they are way better than the Spectra and PL lines from Altman and Strand, if you are lighting from both the top and bottom. The Spectra CYC line isn't nearly as punchy, but produces natural colors and lights extremely evenly. They can be used for other functions such as strobe washes, but are limited to about 15Hz before they can't keep up. Their biggest advantage is their compact size in the 50 and 100 versions. They can be easily be hidden behind scenic pieces.

I love the Mac Aura's. A local venue is soon getting the XB's, and I am interested to see the difference. VLX washes are also phenomenal.

For Spot/Profile Units, in my mind, Robe is hard to beat. I think they are the LED king with the DLS(4)/DLX(4) and the BMFL Spot/Blade seems to be extremely punchy, and offer a lot of features.
Strip wise, I agree it is hard to beat the Color Force. On another note, I recently used the Color Kinetics Colorblast TRX units, and they are also quite punchy, can do pretty good pastels (RGBAW), and the saturates are really deep-toned (even deeper than a lot of other LED's I have used). The need for the proprietary PS is annoying, but at the same time, I do have a lot of old unused 4 pin Scroller Cable, and it was actually nice to only have to run 1 cable to each fixture, and be able to address them more easily. Also since their PS's have built in Wireless City Theatrical Show DMX, I didn't have to run a single DMX cable onto the deck, and I was even able to daisy chain DMX out of them for a fogger that I needed control for. Older, and definitely not as punchy as the Coloforces, but I certainly think they are a good instrument, especially for event or corporate use.

Evidently I'm going against the grain when I say I'm not a huge fan of the Auras... I mainly stick to the VLs for washlight. VLX's are great (as long as you can support them) and if I need anything brighter then that, the VL3500 is the go to. If I need anything smaller the B-Eye is where it's at.

Spot is a harder answer. Really depends on what they're doing, but the Viper's are great, as are the CP 1500s and the Mythos. The underdog here is the Platinum 35s from elation. They've gotten a bashing on here before but I've never had a problem.

Agree with the Color Force. They're finicky and heavy and have super limited roles, but I've had luck using Color Reaches.

I like MAC 350s. Nice field angle, quite bright, good stock gobos. Works in a musical context mostly, but could be use in theatre as gobo wash if you aren't picky about colors.
I have had good experiences with Chauvet LED spots if you are on a budget. decently bright, even field, and not terrible colors and gobos.
MAC Aura will always win for washlight.
Haven't used the B-Eyes, but they seem to be a good all round fixture.
