    Mic Selection

Where would be best to place the mics in the house. Jus in front of the Procenium, or further back by the first electric? Maybe I should just experiment.

    Mic Selection

We will be installing a Listening Tech assisted listening system in our theater next year. Our stage is about 30' x 30' and for non-amplified shows, I'll need to hang mics over the stage to feed the system. What kind of mic would be a good (budget wise) choice? What is a good number of mics...

    Conventional Fixtures Altman 65Q problem

You are correct. I'm looking at the S4 parnells and fresnells. More expensive, but much more reliable!

    Conventional Fixtures Altman 65Q problem

I did exchange emails witrh the support enginers at Altman. Bottom line, tough noogies! It appears that the Altman franchise is giving up on quality and customer service

    Clear-com compatibility

My theater uses an old Clearcom CS 222 console. We need one more headset/beltpak set for our next season. I'm trying to find used equipment on ebay and need advice. I understand that the RS 501 /CC75B combo is the current replacement for our old ones, but wonder what my choices might be to...

    Conventional Fixtures Altman 65Q problem

I skipped the part about the instruments failing again after my freeing=up process. They will fail as soon as 2 hours of service or cycling on about 4 times.

    Conventional Fixtures Altman 65Q problem

It has been almost a year since my original post on the 65Q problem. Guess what? I now regularly clean and lubricate the sockets in the fixtures and they still fail regularly. First they, then they don't. I open the housing, remove the lamp, fiddle with the spring connector in the socket...

My theater is a 400 seat, converted (we've been converting for 10 years and have another ten years to go!) movie theater that is about to undergo another modification. This on is going to impact our ability to store the scaffolding that we use to adjust fixtures on the house pipes. They are...

    Design Old Movie Theater

[You are right. The old drape is trash and we will be taking it down. Also, What do you think about the earlier suggestion of painting the screen. It is a plastic-like film with pinholes. I was thinking a flat white. We could also hang cycs on the frame that the screen is stretched over...

    Design Old Movie Theater

Our theater is a converted movie theater that was built in the 50s. Our stage now extends about 20' in front of the original screen. We also still have the original red traveller in front of the screen. We sometimes like to open the curtains and get a color wash onto the movie screen. To...

    Design Faux marquee lighting

I've been asked to see if there is a way for us to make our proscenium look like a movie theater marquee with blinking lights that appear to be moving. We are thinking about xmas tree lights (the older, larger ones), but I don't have a clue how to control them. Is there something I can rent...

    Gel identification

We have a lot of visiting lighting guys...community arts center...and they sometimes bring their own stuff and leave it after the show. I'm trying to get our entire inventory under one numbering system. Thanks for your help. This site keeps bailing me out of tech issues that I'm supposed to...

    Gel identification

Thanks Michael. It is GAM. I matched all but 4. I can't match 73, 520, 885 or 970. Some of the labels are faded out, so I might have these numbers wrong.

    Gel identification

I'm cleaning up our old gel inventory and have a number conversion question. We use mainly Rosco gels, but I found a stash of Lee gels and some marked Gem. I found a chart to convert Lee numbers into Rosco numbers, but I can't find anything on Gem. Am I missing something??
