Control/Dimming 12px by 42px display... How would you control it?

Hello there Controlboothers,

Janell from Doug Fleenor Design here!

We are demoing a new product at LDI, and we're trying to figure out how to display moving and/or static graphics on a 12x42 "pixel" grid. Is there a program that allows us to set a look by turning on/off pixels, and then have it translated into outgoing DMX? We do not own a console, so a computer program with some sort of dongle would be preferred.

Each line of lights [12 pixels] will look like this:
[oooooo oooooo]

I'm not at all caught up on the options out there, so I'm hoping others have more up-do-date knowledge.

But seriously, any console/control system that supports pixel mapping will work for your application. Likely the least expensive solution is an Enttec dongle and a PC running MagicQ software.

Yup, MagicQ is going to be the way to go. Give [email protected] a yell, I think they would be more then happy to help you guys get it set up. It really is very easy to pixel map on that console.

We used the Catalyst Media Server. One of their guys met us at our booth on Thursday before the show and set up all of those amazing looks.

I would like to point out that the arm holding the microphone in the video belongs to me. I was quite the useful mic stand.
