AKG D8000M microphones a bit too sensitive... Help in flying them

I purchased four of these microphones. Let it suffice to say that the sensitivity is so "fine", that I could hear my fingernails on the XLR cable - and that was without any feedback. Just a bit too sensitive. I could easily pick up spoken conversation from over 12' away.

All is not lost though. I figure I can fly these microphones over the stage to pick up stuff in back of the proscenium arch. Which gets to my question. What is a good way to fly these microphones? I have some "C" clamps that are for clamping lights to battens or pipe. I can easily get (or make) an adapter from the 1/2" thread on the "C" to the microphone holder. Is this a good idea or no?
