Battery LED Wiring

Does anyone have experience wiring LED strip lights? Using a battery powered LED strip and would like to extend the wire so the battery pack is farther away from the lights, AND add a dimmer switch. The strip is a 4.5 V strip. Any help would be apprecitate.

For what purpose? I have done warm white strip lights that made a street lamp glow and used a 9v battery on 12v LED strip. Extending the wire is easy if you can solder.

I've never seen LED strip rated for anything other than 5, 12, or 24VDC; where did "4.5V" come from?

Are you wanting it to be DMX controlled? How far are we talking? 10’ or 100’? Do you have experience soldering? Do you have a switch in mind? What size battery are you wanting to use?
