Hi all,
I am looking into rigging some festoons or individual light bulbs on and around the stage to be controlled through my desk/dimmer packs.
Any ideas/advice on how to do this,
The sooner I can try it the better

If I understand what you correctly, you could just do them like practicals. Depending on what sort of plugs you have on your dimmers, you'll need the appropriate adapter cables (e.g. female edison to male stage pin).
The rigging part of light strings can get interesting.
There isn't much weight but you can have a lot of force needed to get a particular curve in the string. Don't depend on the electrical cord to hold much more than their own weight.
Do you have a look or lamp in mind? When I did them - some 2200 A-19 lamps on 14 circuits before electronic chase effects so all motorized chaser units - I hand painless feston sockets http://www.satco.com/80-1762.html on no 12 thhn stranded and hung them on 1/8" gac. Hand dipped clear lamps to get the right colors. Rosco use to sell it but looks like it's discontinued.

American Lighting sells a few versions of 24" o.c. 48' long strings I use, there is other brands and it's possible but difficult to make your own properly. Ibid on the above proper support. Commercial UL listed products are always the best solution unless you have a specific need.
