I Need help, if anyone knows what to do

My name is Steve with Riot Studios in Las Vegas, I am having a little trouble, and was wondering if anyone has had this issue, and knows how to fix it

I am having an issue with my Yamaha 01V sending optical data to my Motu 8 Pre

the strange thing is, is that channels 1-3 work fine I get sound, but 4-8 send no optical signal, I see that I am getting a signal from my mic, but it is not transferring the signal to the 8 pre.

Does anyone have any Suggestions. any help would be much appreciated!

Hi Steve. I moved your thread to the Sound Forum so it is posted int he proper place. You should get more views here as well.

Are you using the old (original) O1V, or a newer O1V96? Is this the integrated optical port or a port on a MY8AT card?

Have you tried replacing the optical cable or reseating the card (if it is an external card)?

I have had an original O1V for years, and have never heard of the issue.

Hmmmm... If you had said 1-4 worked then I would say you're in SMUX mode in order to get 96k out of an optical output. But not the case if channel 4 does not work...

Sorry I can't help. But you can always contact Yamaha tech support . Looks like they have a "convenient" 8:30-5:00 pm Mon-Fri tech support department that CHARGES $10 for 15 minutes of tech support.

I believe that is the consumer site, the Yamaha Pro support site is Training & Support | Yamaha. Yamaha Pro tech support is usually quite good, however they do seem to rely greatly on the dealers being the direct line of support.
