As stated before the online training is very useful. along with that i downloaded the manual to my laptop sat at my console read and just played with it to get familiar with it. already ran 2 productions and a few school concerts and everything is good.
The on-line tutorials are excellent. Note that after the basic Ion section, the more advanced stuff is often Eos based, but is essentially the same for Ion.
It helps immensely if you download the Ion off-line editor and run it while watching the on-line video. This way you can pause the video and try what you just saw demonstrated. Also download and have available (print or on-screen pdf) the keyboard shortcuts
