Hello All!
I have been watching this forum for some months, and I have to say it has been a valuable knowledgable and interesting experience. I'm glad to finally say I joined up and am looking forward to becoming more involved in here.
A little about me. Currently I am living/working about an hour or so North West of Philadelphia, Pa. I am an Entertainment Tech at a casino (which for now shall remain unnamed in case I happen to rant/rage about upper management
). I went to school at Temple University with a degree and specialization in digital audio.
I am the A 1 at my location, but with the smaller crew we have, we have become men of many trades. We do it all: lights, sound, AV type stuff, TVs, DirectTv, all the overhead audio, photography, recording voice overs, controlling & scheduling content on media players, and outdoor speciality lighting. Basicially if it makes sound, lights up, or produces images, we do it. It is an interesting job to say the least and has a lot more to come in the future.
We do entertainment 7 nights a week in one lounge and 4 nights a week in another, plus the daily responsibilities for all the other systems. We do mostly cover bands with the occasional bigger show/act.
This is my first real job in the industry (I have freelanced for bars and smaller venues) and the learning curve was steep as I was A2 for 9ish months when the A1 left and I stepped into his enourmous shoes. I certainly hope I am doing a competent job as some of the more technicial aspects I find are somewhat over my head, but I always fall back on my main focus, make it sound good.
Well I'm done writing my life story and I'm sure your all fascinated.
Always looking for bigger and better things to do, experience, and learn.
