I have worked in television and video for the past six years. I spoecialised in lighting, but it does get boring eliminating shadows (placing them is much more fun), balancing light, and just blasting the subject (that is what we call it.) It is all fun and all, but it does get boring real quick. I can also work multiple jobs in the TV studio from Cam op to Floor Director on the Floor, and Directing to Audio in the control room. I do know how to operate a Road Hog, ETC Expression, and a Flying Pig, I can do everything when it comes to TV lighting, but it does not pay.
Recently I have started freelancing when I could. I ended up working local at a Trans Siberian concert and I enjoyed it very much. I do not think I ever had too much fun working before. I ended up doing the lighting, and I want to work more events, and I mean permanently. I have done theater before, but that is not really cup of tea, but events is different.
I really want to get out of Television and my current dead end job, and head into event lighting. One of the roadies I have talked to suggested I sould go work at a lighting house, but where I live we dont have one... well not that I know of, and he want me to start learning different things, from repairing to setting up, to programming. That is what I want to get into, I want a challenge.
