I bought one of these StarSphere ornaments but I can't figure out how the effect is created. I'm including two links because neither of them really quite capture the effect.
IDK, looks like the plastic is doing all the heavy lifting. There are tons of plastics with molded and interior structures that the transmission of light to create patterns such as those in this video. I't would be great if the showed this from a couple angles. Primarily this reminds me of disco lights from the 60's; a textured acrylic panel over a few single point light sources.
> Ah, just read the website. "...holographic stars...". Ok, that makes complete sense; if the Hologram is imprinted into the plastic the effect is merely a result of the hologram being highlighted by the light source.
