Topic Suggestions for Student's Paper (serving as a mentor)

Hi all! I work as a high school venue manger and TD, and am currently serving as a mentor for a student writing a research paper covering the field of technical theatre. Since my views are a little narrower only working in the high school realm, I was wondering if anyone had any input on a couple of questions she sent me in regards to her paper. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

1. What problems exist in your field that I could research? These can be problems that you deal with on a day to day basis.

2. Where can I find professional literature?

1. Suggestions could be safety issues (personal and venue), maintenance (hard to replace gear), making theater "green", quantifying training (as pertains to technical skills), or keeping theater relevant (speaking to younger generations).

2. Industry periodicals are not peer reviewed journals which may be required. We have a list in our wiki of a number of them. Some of them even have online archives.
