    Moving Heads with Music-Activated Mode

Alright, a change from the usual "what moving head should I use for my theatrical production"Instead, I am on the hunt for a moving head with these specs: -Is Profile (i.e., not wash or beam) with gobos -Has Sound activated auto-run mode. -Ideally, can link to other of the same fixtures to...

    Spectra Cyc vs Colorsource Cyc

Beware the menu on the Spectra-Cyc. Probably the worst fixture menu ever. If it will have to be re-addressed by untrained staff, forget it!

    New ETC Colorsource Cyc

If accidental menu activation is a concern, the Altman Spectra Cyc may be a great unit for you. No accidental button presses will be able to adjust the menu, but neither will your intentional button presses because of the complicated scheme it takes to unlock the menu. Great LED cyc unit though.

    Bistro/festoon light supports

Most of us in the eventing business are familiar with bistro/festoon/string/cafe lights that look like the attached picture. Typically the light strings are zip tied to aircraft cable which is strung up to some type of existing support structure. Usually we are lucky to have trees, tent frames...

    Generating MIDI timecode

Yes, precisely. Perhaps it doesn't need to be spilt but rather be daisy chained through the two midi devices. It might be that the video software is Cue Player and we might also use a virtual midi link as suggested in the documentation in order to have the video and lighting run on the same PC...

    Generating MIDI timecode

So I am trying to do a thing where I generate MIDI time code on one PC, and use it to control a video PC and a lighting console in order to sync up the video and the lighting cues. I've run into some difficulty in creating the midi timecode for the console to listen to. Can anyone point me in...

Concrete truss baseplate for 20.5" truss

I worked with some of these units in Las Vegas and they are pretty cool for doing a goalpost outside without needing huge legs on the ground. Ihp0031.0x700 by KeepOnTruckin posted Jun 27, 2017 at 2:45 PM They are steel boxes filled with concrete with embedded nuts for bolting up 20.5" and 12"...

    Removing melted gel from frames

Good to know the freezer method works. If you didn't feel like scraping, perhaps consider throwing away the frame and buying a new one for ~$5

    Pipe-mount TV Bracket

The Light Source has a pretty simple product that will do the job well: http://www.thelightsource.com/products/plasma-universal-mount-set-93Or this option if you want to hang the TV by yourself: http://www.thelightsource.com/products/tc-plasma-mount-75You could also take an existing TV mount...

Vintage Lighting Sourcing a crystal chandelier

So I've been asked to light a wedding where the client would also like four large crystal chandeliers hung in a barn. I promptly went down to my local residential lighting store and had a look at the chandeliers. Problem is, these things are at least $1500. I'm not quite sure I can convince the...

Blank slide as source for projector

Good point. I am slightly embarrassed to say I did this on a 5000 lumen projector and the binder did not get past "a little warm"

Blank slide as source for projector

If we want to get into how to make a cheap projector douser, tape a 3 ring binder over the top of the lens and tie a string to the end, pull up on string to open, let go to douse.

    Outdoor TVs

You need SunBrite TVs. Expensive, but they will last in all weather. Other options such as putting regular TVs in enclosures are sure to fail early. This video does a pretty good job of explaining the durability of these displays:

    Needing a new strobe

I am in need of a medium-sized strobe for concert lighting. Presently using the American DJ Mega-Flash DMX, which is OK, but not bright enough for every venue I find myself in. Alternatives I have tried are the Blizzard Lighting Snowblind- I found this to be very comparable to the ADJ unit, and...
