Beast's Transformation

We are getting ready to do Disney's Beauty and the Beast and I am at a loss as to how to stage the Beast's transformation. Any costume ideas or special FX ideas out there??

When I had to pull it off, we used a mirror intelligent light that we put in our spot light booth. When it came time for the transformation, we had a blackout and set it to strobe near the area. Fog will also increase the effect. You could use a small LED light that would pull off the same effect, just set it on stage.
