Ellipsoidal Beam Broken Up

So I'm sure you've all seen this before: an ellipsoidal's beam broken up into tiny cones.
This is a just a breakup gobo, right? If so, what type?

Yes I know this is simple, but I never need to use this effect, so I'm just curious.

Thanks!

Soundlight beat me to it. The beam spread of the instrument will determine how broad the "moonflower" is. Some of them can be more complex, like this:

Or simple, like this:

(which looks cool in multiples sweeping the stage).

Yes, pretty much any break-up-like gobo can give you that effect (see picture below). I've even used things like window, tree, and "sewer grate" gobos to create midair effects (you need haze). As mentioned, you need a glass gobo to get the multicolor effect.

Wow ok that's a tad impressive... that must come from working with those things.

Not something I do. Thanks guys!

I just remembered that specific image of the Alpha Spot QWO 800s from a press release about them, otherwise I wouldn't have known that gobo and fixture so specifically. Comes from my life being moving lights.

Looks like ''radial lines'' to me.
