Quick Question: What size Gobos and Gobo Holders do I need for my Strand Century Lekos? For our upcoming play I would like to use some gobos with them, but we don't have frames that fit!
Mine, from the '80s, a conventional360Q B-size sandwich holder fits in (along with a B-size gobo in it). But I believe the ones we had in college, from the '60s, didn't have a pattern slot.
Where's a good place to buy? I would need three holders, three doughnuts, and I would like to go with Apollo Gobos... though Rosco wouldn't be bad either. The show isn't until the end of next month, so no rush.
I have had always had great expirence and service from BMI Supply. They sell both Apollo and Rosco products. There are countless other suppliers that I am sure are geat as well.
The factory original was affectionately known as a "dipstick,"
with an aperture of 3".
Note that at the time, all gobos had an image area of 3", were rectangular, and intended to be cut to fit. Either A or B sizes should work, using an Altman 360/Q sized holder, as the S/C holder at a width of 3 3/8" had quite a bit of play on the sides.
Just as with modern ERSs, if image sharpness is most important, go for the B-size (graphics/logos/text); but if maximum coverage is needed, use A-size (breakups).
