I've worked with these and need to get some for theater dept. in lighting, a circuit spliter something. it is a square wooden 'box' with one input and 3 output ports. Used with union type connectors.. asked my supply house clerk and got a lot of hums and 'I'll have to check on what it is'. Thanks any and all.

It sounds like a paddle three-fer. I haven't used one of those in years. Not sure if they are still manufactured.

Any reason you can't use a regular cable three-fer? Those are readily available from theatrical dealers.

And they come in both cable mount and current tap flavors.

Do you mean 3P&G stage plugs made by Union Connector? Sounds like a Spider block or a paddle connector. Also possibly an old Hollywood plug box. Is this a picture of what you're looking for? 3fer_block2.jpg

For modern versions of the old wood hollywood plug box try Lex
Lex Portable Distribution Boxes - Lex Products (Electrical) They come in all versions of in and out, stage pin, twist of any type cam-lock etc.
