Philips buys Genlyte!?

Also bought LTI the xenon lamp company started by former engineers from Osram. Some of the LTI lamp line have just been added to the latest P-5910 Phillips Broadway "The Golden Solution" Lighting pamphlet which also has some of the specs of the elusive MSR 'Gold 2000 Fast Fit lamp for the Show Gun'.

Interesting how while other lamp companies in former years were buying up lamp companies left and right and Philips didn't, and now the others are not and Philips is. Thorn is GE but their US distributer Nelson is now PRG. Strand US is not Strand UK.

Personally i feel if anyone can make a functional LED ellipsoidal spot it's going to be phillips now.

Haven't seen it, but I know who is doing it, that it is coming, and that it is close. Wish i could say more, but there is a killer product coming soon.

The moving light people are also under the same umbrella now. Vari*lite is a genlyte company, and now it is owned by philips.

Also isn't philips under ownership of Lumileds Lighting (big LED giant company, you've heard of fixtures using Luxeon K2s right?). So this basically means philips now has control of both the lamp making process and the fixture optics.

And, as stated earlier, Color Kinetics, Phillips has acquired, has a huge LED manufacturing base as well, not to mention they own almost all the patents on LED technology.
