Stage Lighting: A non-stage lighting fixture that is seen by the audience. This includes table lamps, wall sconces, chandeliers, track lights, and so on. Called a practical because from the audience's point of view it is the light source for the area around it.

Scenery or Props: Any item that functions onstage as originally intended. A "practical" sink would have running water. From the stage directions and script of Deathtrap, by Ira Levin: "...a fireplace, practical to the extent that paper may be burned in it..."
