Vivid-R Horizontal and Vertical Lenses

I have a bunch of Vivid-R Selador series fixtures that I would like to use as stage washes. I am looking at these lenses for the fixtures. There are 2 types that I have found. Horizontal http://www.pnta.com/lighting/fixture-parts/lenses/etc-selador-horizontal-lenses/
And vertical http://www.pnta.com/lighting/fixture-parts/lenses/etc-selador-vertical-lenses/

I was wondering if anyone has used these and if they were very effective or if anyone had any other ideas as to how better to use them for washes. Right now they are very tight beams and I am looking to spread and soften them out a bit.

You may find ETC's Selador application guide useful. There's a section on lensing toward the end of it that will help with how to use the lenses.
